Student Update for April 7, 2020

Dear Students,

Please note that as of today, your personal email address in MyEdBC will be replaced by your SD48 G-Mail address.

Therefore, any further email correspondence from our staff or school admin will need to be accessed through your school G-Mail account.  Please be sure to check your G-Mail regularly especially during this time of online learning.

Grades 10 and 11 Update for April 6, 2020

Dear Grade 10 and 11 Students,

I hope this email finds you and your families healthy. By now, you will have heard from your teachers and you are hopefully starting to engage in some of the learning opportunities they are providing to you. We wanted to give you some additional important information.

GMAIL

  • Every student will now have a gmail account associated with your school google account. This can be accessed through the “waffle” icon, once you log into your google account. This will become an important method for teachers to communicate directly with you. Please start to check your school gmail account.  The password and username for this gmail account will be the same as the uername and password you use to log into your G-Suite account.

COURSE SELECTIONS

  • If you have not already completed course requests for next year, it is very important that you log into MyEdBC and complete your course requests.  Information about course offerings can be found on our school website HERE. If you are having any difficulties logging into MyEdBC, please email Mr. Blaikie at ablaikie@sd48.bc.ca.  If you have any general or specific questions about courses, please contact your school counsellor:

CAREER LIFE EDUCATION (C.L.E.)

  • This is still a required course for graduation and teachers will be providing a final grade for the course in June. To successfully pass the course, all students will have four assignments, which can be found in your CLE Google Classroom. If you have any questions about CLE, please contact your CLE teacher directly. The four required assignments are:
    • Ways of Knowing and Learning
    • Values and Workplace Ethics
    • Career Infographic
    • Resume and Cover letter

CAREER LIFE CONNECTIONS (CLC)

  • This is still a required course for graduation and teachers will be providing a final grade for the course in June. To successfully pass the course, all students will have four assignments, which can be found in your CLC Google Classroom. If you have any questions about CLE, please contact your CLE teacher directly. The four required assignments are:
    • Ways of Knowing and Learning
    • Values and Workplace Ethics
    • Career Infographic
    • Resume and Cover letter
  • Capstone Presentation. The Ministry of Education still requires all grade 12 students to present their Capstone project. This can be done by two way video conferncing or a video subitted to your CLC teacher. You will need to discuss the specic format of your presentation with your CLC teacher.

LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Local scholarships will still be awarded. The scholarship committee will be meeting in the coming weeks to select recipients and families will be notified once selections are final.
