Dear Parents and Guardians of Grade 10/11 students,
Please note we are in the process of registering students who are preparing to take the June Numeracy Assessment and require one week to collect the names of those students who will be writing.
The Numeracy Assessment:
- is required for all students graduating after June 30th, 2018 (all current Grade 10 and 11 students will need to write it before graduation)
- is an assessment of skills learned from Grades 1-9 and is NOT attached to the content of a particular course
- can be attempted up to 3 times and the best mark will be the only one shown on a student transcript
- can be written in January and June of each school year
I have attached a document that explains this assessment further, as well as the following link which includes a sample exam: (https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/provincial-assessment/graduation/numeracy).
Any of our Grade 10 or 11 students who wish to write the Numeracy Assessment in June will need to register at our school office no later than Friday, May 11th to confirm their participation. After May 11th, we will be unable to register any students for the June write.
Additional information regarding dates and times, as well as practice sessions, will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.
Please also note that a number of our Grade 11 students wrote the Numeracy Assessment as part of a pilot project in January of this year. These students can access their results by going to http://www.studenttranscripts.gov.bc.ca/. Here they will be prompted to either sign in, or register for a BCeID account. As well, students will require their PEN number to log onto their results which can be found on your student’s report card.
If you have any questions, please contact our school at 604 892-5261 and one of our administrative staff will able to assist you.
