Dear Parents and Guardians,
A key focus for staff this week is preparing our students for their upcoming Government Exams. Please note that Government Exams are scheduled for Monday, January 25th to Thursday, January 28th. The exam schedule (attached) is set by the Ministry of Education and must be strictly adhered to by all secondary schools. Students in each grade are required to write the following exams:
Grade 10 students are required to write a government exam for Math, Science and English
Grade 11 students are required to write a government exam for Social Studies
Grade 12 students are required to write a government exam for English
Students have pre-selected whether they would prefer to complete the hardcopy paper version of their required exam(s) or the electronic version of their exam(s). Students selecting the paper version will be writing their exam in the small gym and students selecting the electronic version will be writing their exam in one of our computer labs.
Grade 10 and 11 students are advised that the government exam accounts for 20% of their final mark for the course. Grade 12 students are advised that the government exam accounts for 40% of their final mark for the course. Students are to take final exams next week only if they are currently enrolled the courses listed above. If they are taking any of the listed courses next semester they are to take write their governments exam(s) in June. Details regarding materials students should bring to the final exams will be shared by their classroom teachers.
Busses will be running at their regular pick up an drop off times during exam week.
